Katie W. Maness, president
Building on over twenty-five years of experience in Washington, D.C., Katie Maness has a unique perspective on the interactions between the legislative and executive branches of government and corporate, non-profit and political entities. Katie brings extensive experience in planning and executing multifaceted development campaigns that are committee-driven and supported from the leadership of the organization. In addition, she is especially skilled at securing corporate support for non-profit organizations and building a team of advocates to market the message.
For over 15 years, Katie was Director of Washington Affairs-Political for Union Pacific Corporation. She was primarily responsible for directing the political activities of all the Union Pacific companies, including management of its grassroots program and political action committee (PAC), lobbying on Capitol Hill and the Administration and management of special events hosted by Union Pacific, ranging from events with national exposure to intimate dinners. During her tenure, Katie grew the PAC into one of the largest corporate PACs with an active political network that included a corporate matching gift program for PAC participants that involved facilitating donations to nearly 400 charities. Her political outreach activities included directing federal and non-federal political contributions to political parties and candidates on the national, state and local levels, facilitating Union Pacific employees’ involvement in the political process and organizing Union Pacific’s public relations activities. This included coordination of the company’s participation at eight national political conventions with over 100 events and thousands of guests. Katie also coordinated and distributed Washington, D.C.-based charitable contributions from the Union Pacific Foundation.

Clients benefit from Katie’s strong background in developing strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors, developing and managing public affairs and public relations activities with a significant background in project management, high net worth donor stewardship, consumer marketing, coalition building and event management. This experience has resulted in financially successful campaigns ranging from a well-executed year-long corporate employee engagement drive to a successful congressional election to a 50-person reception at a private residence overlooking the Potomac River to an intimate dinner for 300+ in Central Park to large 800+ person events at national historical venues with top-name talent.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Salisbury State University and her Juris Doctorate from George Mason University. Katie lives in McLean, Virginia, with her husband, Ted, and two wonderfully precocious children.
Keeley Peters Rana, vice president
Keeley Peters Rana, Vice President at The Maness Group, provides the creative spark to fulfill the client’s vision on branding, venues, décor and messaging. In this role, she develops and manages the master plan to include detailed project timelines and itemized budgets; securing all necessary vendors; and negotiating contracts on behalf of the client. In addition, Keeley manages third party service providers and external stakeholders to ensure proper execution of client’s goals and objectives while maximizing the client’s existing social platforms to market the desired message.
Using her extensive network, Keeley manages the identification and acquisition of program participants for events, including emcees and talent; coordinates destination management; secures and stewards the attendance of VIPs at events to include senior military, corporate executives, Members of Congress, celebrities, philanthropic leaders and senior Administration officials. As the one responsible for all on-site logistics, Keeley hosts prep calls, prepares and distributes briefing materials; and manages all event details, event staff and volunteers.
Most recently, Keeley served as an Events Manager at The Hill, a Washington, D.C.-based newspaper covering the business of Washington and the inner-working of Congress. In this role, she managed the internal project team to including marketing director, circulation director and other stakeholders to ensure success of policy-based events, dinners with Washington thought leaders and large-scale tent pole marketing events.
Prior to her role at The Hill, Keeley was an account coordinator for an event planning firm where she managed the efforts of the Logistics and Development teams to ensure success of large and small-scale galas, concerts, board meetings and conferences for non-profits as well as for-profit organizations; guest attendance ranging from 20 to 2,000 people.
Keeley is a graduate of George Mason University.
